Personal care and fashion are hands-on crafts learned on real heads, real skin and real fabric. Our salon, treatment room and sewing studio run as working spaces, with supervised client-model sessions built into every program so you finish having worked to time, to brief and to a paying standard.

All 5 courses run for 12 weeks and are delivered in-person training at our Nanaimo campus.

Hairdressing & Barbering Fundamentals

Cutting, clipper work, colour and finishing on a working salon floor.

  • Carry out a full client consultation and record it accurately
  • Deliver classic cuts and clipper fades to a commercial standard
  • Apply colour safely, including patch testing and bleach handling
  • Work to salon timings on supervised client models

Beauty Therapy & Skincare

Facials, waxing, brows and lashes in a professional treatment room.

  • Analyse a client’s skin and recommend a treatment plan
  • Perform a full facial to a professional standard
  • Carry out face and body waxing safely with correct aftercare
  • Identify contraindications and know when to refer a client on

Nail Technology

Manicure, pedicure, gel and acrylic enhancements, and nail art.

  • Deliver a full manicure and pedicure to salon standard
  • Apply, infill and safely remove gel and acrylic enhancements
  • Diagnose and correct common enhancement problems
  • Maintain hygiene and file-management standards for a client column

Makeup Artistry

Skin prep, colour matching, bridal and editorial makeup, and building a kit.

  • Match and apply base products accurately across a range of skin tones
  • Deliver bridal, occasion and editorial makeup to a brief
  • Build, maintain and sanitise a professional kit
  • Produce a photographed portfolio of your own work

Fashion Design & Garment Making

Pattern drafting, industrial machining and constructing finished garments.

  • Draft and adapt a pattern from a set of measurements

  • Fit and alter a garment on a stand and on a body
