About us

Our facilities

Every workshop, bay, kitchen and lab is on one site at 1270 Strathmore St. Nanaimo BC, Canada — so you are never more than a few minutes from the equipment you are training on.

Campus

Purpose-built training spaces

Our facilities are set up as working environments rather than classrooms, because that is how the skills transfer.

Construction workshop

450 m² of bench and framing space with full tool cribs and a materials yard.

Welding booths

Eight individually ventilated booths for SMAW and GMAW, plus a cutting and grinding bay.

Automotive service bays

Four bays with two-post lifts, scan tools, alignment gear and training vehicles.

Simulated care suite

Hospital beds, ceiling and floor lifts, manikins and a fully equipped care bathroom.

Teaching kitchen & bakery

Twelve cooking stations, a deck oven, proofing cabinets and a service pass.

Technology lab

20 workstations, a hardware bench, network rack and cloud lab accounts.

Early years activity room

Play-based learning resources, observation area and creative materials store.

Training warehouse

Racking, pallet handling equipment, scanners and a live warehouse management system.

Salon & treatment rooms

Ten styling stations, backwash units, two treatment rooms and a nail bar.

Fashion studio

Industrial machines, overlockers, cutting tables, dress stands and a pressing station.

Safety and equipment

All workshops are maintained to WorkSafeBC standards, with extraction, guarding and PPE stations. Tools and consumables are provided; you supply your own safety boots for trades programs.

Access and study space

A quiet study room, free Wi-Fi throughout campus, a student kitchen and a common room are open during campus hours. Supervised workshop access is available during scheduled sessions only.

Getting to campus

CTC-arranged accommodation is walking distance or a short bus ride from campus. Nanaimo is served by ferry and by Nanaimo Airport (YCD), with Vancouver Airport (YVR) around three hours away door to door.
