Admissions

Entry requirements

Our requirements are deliberately practical. We care that you can take part safely and get real value from twelve intensive weeks.

General requirements

What every applicant needs

These apply to all courses at CTC. Individual courses may add one or two specific requirements, listed on the course page.

Age

You must be at least 18 years old on the first day of your intake. There is no upper age limit.

Education

A secondary school certificate or equivalent. If you left school early but have relevant work experience, tell us about it in your personal statement — we assess these case by case.

English language

Conversational English, roughly CLB 4 or IELTS 4.5. You must be able to follow safety instructions and participate in workshop sessions. We do not require a test certificate; our team may arrange a short conversation if we need to check.

Passport

A valid passport with at least six months of validity beyond your intake end date. You will need it for your visitor visa application and for enrolment.

Fitness for practical work

Most programs involve standing, lifting or working with tools and equipment. Some courses have additional requirements — for example, marine courses require you to be able to swim, and early years courses require a criminal record check on arrival.

Financial readiness

You should be able to meet the fee schedule at each stage and support yourself for living costs beyond the accommodation fee.

Choose the closest match on your application form. None of these are ranked above another for entry purposes.

  • Secondary / High School Certificate
  • Vocational or Technical Certificate

  • Master’s Degree or above

Documents

What you need to send us — and when

At application

Nothing. The online form collects everything we need to make a decision. There are no uploads.

At invitation stage

Confirmation that the passport details on your application are correct, so your invitation letter matches your travel document exactly.

At enrolment

A copy of your passport photo page, your visa decision, and any qualification certificates you mentioned. Emailed copies are fine — nothing needs to be certified.

Not sure whether you qualify?

Tell us about your background and the work you want to do. Our admissions team will tell you honestly whether a course is a good fit before you apply — and suggest an alternative if it is not.
